Go-kart Mozart “Fuzzy Duck”

Ida Bergström

“Ugly Custard Bacon Fat Wooden O Incredible Hog Knocker Jungle Heavy Jelly Mogul Thrash Granny’s Intentions Ultimate Spinach Fresh Maggots Warm Dust Toad ‘Igginbottom’s Wrench Hedgehog Pie Dog That Bit People Bran Arthur’s Mother Paper Bubble Arthur’s Mother Paper Bubble Focal Point rolled a big fat joint and grew some facial hair and Fuzzy Duck took some funny stuff and Fuzzy Duck were scared – ooh they were scared – Hairy Chapter Deaf Cuckoo Flasket Brinner Shakey Vick poor Fuzzy Duck has had enough and was feeling very sick – Tickawinda!  From the sublime “Tearing up the album chart” : a beautiful, wistful paean to the glorious dead of progressive rock.  I believe there is genuine affection and emotion in this song and that its author’s reputation as a one-dimensional iconoclast is hugely inaccurate and unfair to boot.

The more anal knowledgeable amongst you may have noted a degree of editorialisation above i.e. a handful of extra groups not included in original lyrics, some of which may never actually have existed. A prize for the first person to identify the bogus combos correctly!

  1. To my shame, I’m not aware of the original song… but my guesses are Rainbow Ffolly (as you and I are the only people to have heard of them… did I tell you I used to do a cover of the Sighing Game?). Also, due to previous form, Capybara strikes me as something you’d make up…

  2. Rainbow ffolly are all too real: go here for a great story: http://www.radiolondon.co.uk/sixties/rainbowff/reccoll/rffstory.html

You can now get “Sallies fforth” once again via the lovely folk here:

Yes, I made up Capybara. But which other ones? A-ha! (No, A-ha were real. BOOM BOOM!)

  3. Ah yes, they’re a real band, but whether the aforementioned fella stuck them in a song or not was severely doubted by me… but Caribou are modern electro-indie band, so they seem a bit out of place!

Also, seeing as I don’t know the song, I keep hearing the lyrics sung to the only fools and horses theme tune. It fits quite well.

  4. I deny all knowledge of the “real” Caribou. I made them up. They owe their existence to me and me alone. The only other one I made up was Hoopoe. The others are all real!

Seeing as you’re the only one who can be anused to comment you get the prize. Postman Pat (no relation to the villain in earlier post) will deliver it soon.
